87) Investor Challenge #4 - Difficult To Learn About Investment

This is very common challenge any potential and current investors will want to know. Investment is just like other skills. You need time, money and effort to learn about investments.

Areas to consider:

a) Time available
- Learn about new investment
- Monitor the investment
- Manage the investment
- Traveling time to learning venue

b) Additional money
- Extra fees and charges
- More money to learn more
- Subscription costs for learning materials

c) Knowledge & skills
- Ability to learn to be good
- Motivation to keep improving
- Sharing knowledge with others

Some investments takes a lot of time, money and effort to learn. There are many 'gurus' and courses in the market which charge thousands of dollars to attend.

Other investments are easier as you can engage professionals to do most of the work and spend time managing the investments. You just have to provide the money.

As a reminder, do remember there are many scams that promises high returns, little time required and easy to do. You just have to provide the money. Be very careful.

There are sayings,
"There's no free lunch"
"If it's too good to be true, it probably is"

You can look into my other blog posting on the 4S of Investment, what Investor really wants.

4S of investment
a) Super or high returns
b) Safe
c) Speed or fast
d) Simple

No investments have all the 4 criteria above. Most have maximum 3 highs and 1 low.

Do look around, google and ask people on the various types of investments available. Decide on what suits you best and look for authorized and professional help.

One of the investments that require little learning and skill is Unit Trust. There are many Unit Trust Consultants (UTC) that are willing to help you. Let the fund managers in the Unit Trust Management Company (UTMC) manage your investments.

Also remember to diversify your investments.
